Time Square will be a key destination during this year’s Warrington Arts Festival, which returns from Friday, July 18th to Saturday, July 26th. The town centre space will come alive with performances celebrating local stories, music, and movement.
Here’s what’s happening at Time Square:
Friday, July 18th
7pm – The Family Catwalk Extravaganza. A fabulous dance, fashion and lip-sync competition from Ghetto Fabulous. Four performers go head-to-head and the audience chooses the winner in this bold and interactive celebration of self-expression.
8pm – From Mr Smiths, With Love. Time Square is transformed into an open-air nightclub as Warrington dance artist Stacey Atkinson and performance company Night People bring a tribute to the iconic Mr Smiths. Featuring 50 community dancers and a guest appearance from Wiggy of The Hitman and Her, the show fuses storytelling, music and movement with a throwback 80s and 90s soundtrack.
Tuesday, July 22nd
Celebrate Warrington’s next generation of filmmakers at Made By Me, a special screening of bold, original short films by local creatives aged 16–25.
-
6.15pm (12+ rating) – Coming-of-age stories, personal documentaries, music videos and playful experimental shorts.
-
8.00pm (18+ rating) – Thrillers, horror, romance and dystopian tales with mature themes.
Saturday, July 26th
5pm – Brazen Brass Band. A powerful performance from some of the UK’s finest female brass and percussion players. Inspiring, bold and brilliant, they aim to empower girls and young women to pick up an instrument and play.
5.45pm – Batida Rio. A samba drumming and carnival group based in Warrington. Their music is a fusion of Afro-Brazilian samba reggae styles, mixed with Latin, funk, rock and dance to create their own unique and exciting sound.
If you’re after nostalgic club memories or high-energy carnival rhythms, Time Square’s festival lineup is packed with unmissable moments.
Warrington Arts Festival was relaunched in 2024 with the support of Arts Council England, Warrington Borough Council and Warrington BID. This year’s programme celebrates the town through arts, culture, people and place, with Time Square right at its heart.
