Warrington’s comic book fans are in for a treat as Free Comic Book Day returns to Scott’s Pops & Comics at Warrington Market on Saturday, May 3rd.
Free Comic Book Day is an annual, global celebration of the comic industry, where publishers produce special editions to be given away free to both newcomers and long-time fans.
Returning for its 24th year, the event will once again be hosted locally by Scott’s Pops & Comics, which recently marked its fifth year of trading upstairs in Warrington’s multi award-winning market in Time Square.
Owner Scott Mathieson said: ““Free Comic Book Day is a great opportunity to discover the world of comics and storytelling which are behind so many of today’s popular movies and TV shows. Whether you are a reluctant reader, a lapsed fan or on the hunt for something new, there’s something for everyone and for all ages”
Past events have proven extremely popular, and this year Scott is building on that success with even more local comic book talent attending, including Neil Edwards (Spider-Man, Fantastic Four for Marvel), Abby Bulmer (My Little Pony, Sonic for IDW), and local artist Foxhat.
Scott added: “For anyone interested in art or how comics are made, it’s a great chance to meet artists and writers, pick up a signed comic or even a unique piece of artwork.”
The event runs all day, with special guests appearing from 11am to 4pm on the mezzanine level of Warrington Market. Entry is free, with special edition comics available while stocks last inside Scott’s Pops & Comics.
