Acts On The Night

Dan Nightingale

Dan Nightingale is widely regarded as one of the best performers working on the comedy circuit today.

He headlines all the major comedy clubs in the UK, and at the North West Comedy Awards, he won Best Act 2018 and 2019 and Best MC 2019. He is a regular at the Edinburgh Fringe. Both a storyteller and an observational comedian his stand-up is playful, honest, clever and creative. Astute, even acerbic social satire within a set of hilarious treal life anecdotes, brought to life by big characters and engaging performances.

Dan began his comedy career in Newcastle in 2002, and is now one of the most recognisable faces on the North West Comedy circuit. He founded the Frog and Buckets Beat the Frog amateur night, which quickly became the best new comedy night in the North. As well as his reputation as a top-class circuit headliner and in-demand MC and host, he has also performed regular TV warm up for the likes of Jonathan Ross, John Bishop and Celebrity Juice.

He has also appeared on John Bishop’s Only Joking (Sky TV) and supported Ross Noble on his UK tour.

Dan has also received much critically acclaimed success at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, having performed solo shows in 2008, 2012 and 2013. He returned in 2014 with his hour long, one man show Dan Nightingale is Trying His Best Not to be a Dick which received 5 ★★★★ reviews.

His show in 2018 was a massive sold-out success Sex, Drugs & My Nanna’s Bungalow.

He is also a podcaster and has a hit weekly comedy podcast available for download called Have a Word with Adam Rowe.

Scott Bennett

After starting comedy in late 2009, Scott has rapidly established himself as one of the fastest rising stars on the UK circuit.

Scott made his debut on BBC One’s Live at the Apollo last year and was nominated for Best Club Comedian by Chortle in 2022.

His last two shows Leap Year and Relax were nominated for ‘Best Show’ at the Leicester Comedy Festival and has been named by Chortle as One To Watch for 2018 and 19.

His debut hour stand up show About a Roy was nominated for the highly acclaimed Amused Moose Comedy Award and was selected as one of the top ten shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2015.

He has appeared on BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz, The Now ShowThe Likely Dads and Elephant in the Room with Sarah Millican, The Summer Festival with Daliso Chaponda, The Comedy Club with Arthur Smith, and Knock Knock with Helen Lederer. He also featured on the BBC One show, Live from The Edinburgh Fringe.

During the lockdown of 2020, Scott pioneered the viral hit, Stand up from the Shed, a weekly topical live streamed stand up show from his actual garden shed. The show achieved national coverage in the press, Sky News, BBC News and Five Live and has had over 150,000 views.

At the end of 2020, in the Comics Comic awards Scott was voted “Best Act” a prestigious award decided by comedians and promoters in the industry. Previous winners include, Mick Ferry, Zoe Lyons and Ian Stone.

This year he has supported Jason Manford and John Bishop on tour and in 2017 and 18 Scott supported Rob Brydon on his National UK tour dates for his latest show I am Standing Up. He was also selected to do a support slot for Michael McIntyre as part of his work in progress shows at the Duchess Theatre in London alongside Keri Godliman, Russell Kane and Ed Gamble.

In addition to his stand up work Scott is also a talented writer. He was a programme associate on First and Last with Jason Manford for BBC One, a writer for The Chris Ramsey Show on Comedy Central. He’s written stand up for big touring acts including Jason Manford and Rob Brydon and has worked extensively for BBC Radio 4, with writing credits including The News Quiz, and Citizen of Nowhere with Daliso Chaponda. He was also one of the main writers on the prime time BBC One Show, Little Mix – The Search hosted by Chris Ramsey.

“Great material, great delivery, a very funny man” Rob Brydon

“A joy to watch” Chris Ramsey

“Without doubt live comedy’s best kept secret” The Evening Standard

‘Clearly has a big future, flashes of Peter Kay, Jason Manford and John Bishop” Bruce Dessau

Hosted by Bren Riley

There’s nothing bland or predictable about this stand-up comic. Brendan’s Liverpudlian accent and lively blend of anecdotes, gags and inspired improvisation brings a refreshing blast of cheerful North Western humour and makes him a sought after headline act and MC.
